Community Support - Week 7
Sunday again, here's the round up of community support for Thurso, Halkirk and Caithness West this week!
π 162 requests for support
π 154 Active and willing volunteers
π 345 Meals delivered
π 80 face coverings produced for volunteers with lots more to come
π 1800 miles covered offering support (that one is to date, not just one week! Thatβs the equivalent of driving from Thurso to Madrid! Remember when we could go places outside of Thurso? Aw, those were some good times...
Our admin team is made up of volunteers, Development Trust staff and board members. The admin team are those who talk directly to the people who request support and make arrangements to dispatch one of the 133 volunteers to run errands. We're a friendly bunch and love a natter so do call in on 01847 867050 and we'll do our best to help.
Each week, weβre celebrating folk from the volunteer group who are up for a selfie and some Facebook recognition! This week, weβre celebrating Sharon from the admin team. Sharon is one of our employees and makes up part of the Thurso Grows team. Sharon's cheery attitude makes her a joy to work with and we know that the community members love a natter with her. The Thurso Grows team have been working super hard to adapt during the coronavirus pandemic and have been supporting folk with a new found interest of gardening and growing at home. See their Facebook page for a range of videos on growing and cooking at home! Just yesterday, they announced that they can distribute growing boxes to families and isolated folks. The team can even offer continued support via a WhatsApp group. Get in touch if that sounds interesting - we'd love to help!
We love that the picture Sharon could find to share with you all is one of her proudly clutching a bucket of compost!
We've updated the Coronavirus updates page again this week with the very latest information so if you'd like to know more, you can see it here (you can offer a financial donation to help run the service if you'd like too!)
Thank you all for your support to date, the feedback from the community has been wonderful.
