Love Local Love Thurso Launch

Our Love Local, Love Thurso campaign has launched, funded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership Covid-19 Recovery Fund we are delighted to be able to support Thurso’s independent retailers and eateries to recover from Covid-19 closures, help with a different way of doing business living with the current restrictions and at a time of year when the town does normally fall quieter before the lead up to Christmas.

So what is it all about?

Very simply, encouraging our community and those who are visiting it to shop safely and to think local first. To love local and to love Thurso. Our independent retailers and eateries are superb at any time of year but particularly throughout 2020 many have adapted their business to ensure that we are supported through deliveries and takeaways. This, at a time when they have been hardest hit, rent and bills have still needed to be paid despite premises having been closed. Our independent retailers and eateries are our family, our friends, our neighbours. They are our community.

Over the next few months we will be telling their stories through articles, pictures, video and a Business Directory which will be delivered to your homes. Of course, we will be showing you the fantastic products and yummy food and drink they have on offer to encourage you to shop locally but we will also be telling their stories to connect us together as a community.

A key part of shopping locally at the moment is also shopping safely. A lot of you seem to have already enjoyed our own version of the Scottish Government FACTS advice and we have been asked for copies.
