!!!THE EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED!!!
On the 25th of October, a small group of lucky participants will get a chance to attend the autumnal Walled Garden of Mey and take part in the preparation of the garden for the winter.
As the borders of perennials and shrubs will be trimmed for the upcoming winter, we will assist the Royal Gardeners by this process, and will be able to harvest as many seeds and cuttings as you will wish. Attendants will get the feel of what it is to be a volunteer at this magical garden. You will be expected to become a part of the gardening team for the day and work hard together, to prepare the gardens for their winter sleep. It will be a great opportunity not just to collect seeds and cuttings but also to pick up priceless knowledge and experience of the Gardens of Mey team.
Please note that the materials collected throughout the event cannot be used for commercial purposes though.
We shall provide the shared transport from Thurso to Mey and back on the day, upon your request.
Please wear suitable clothing and consider taking a change of footwear, in case it will be wet and muddy.
You are encouraged to bring your packed lunch, and there will be an opportunity to have a break indoors and to use toilets. As the opening season at the Castle is over, the tea room will not be operating.
