House Battle

Through the entire duration of the #beasolution campaign, Thurso High Houses will be competing for the grand prize - visit to the Merlin Cinema!!! The film to be determined.

Be a Champion

Throughout the duration of #beasolution campaign, every student at Thurso High will be earning individual points and merits, while they are improving their skills in waste management.

The Ultimate Champion will receive a grand prize of £20.

The top 10 #beasolution champions will be awarded with a prize of £10.

Recycling Competition

Who can participate: everyone!

Prize: 10 points per bin and a trip to Merlin Cinema for the winning house!

There are 5 dedicated #beasolution recycling waste containers for this competition, which are located in the school lobby and branded with house logos.

For each full bin of good recycling, the house will be awarded 10 points.

The content of the bin will be checked for contamination, and if the bin fails the check the points will not be awarded.

If any student is spotted contaminating any of the Recycling Competition bins, be it their own house or rival house, the house and the individual student will be fined for 5 points.

If you witness anyone contaminating the bins, take the evidence - a photo or a video of the act, and get in touch with Thurso High Sustainability Committee.

Logo and Banner Contest

Who can participate: everyone!

Prize: 20 points and a voucher for two persons to Merlin Cinema!

Create a logo to brand the #beasolution fleet of reusable food containers that will be used at hospitality classes starting early 2024.

The logos will be etched on the lids of the plastic containers.

You can draw your logo design on paper or provide digital design.

The deadline to submit your design is 20 December 2023.

Please send your digital design to oksana@thursocdt.co.uk.

Please hand in your drawn logos to members of Thurso High Sustainability Committee.

Our #beasolution banner is under development and everyone is welcome to create their design.

Style #beasolution motto on your banner, enter it for contest by 20 December 2023.

The authors of best designs for both the logo and the banner will be awarded with 20 points and a voucher for 2 to Merlin Cinema.

Soft Plastic Challenge

Who can participate: everyone!

Prize: £20 prize and 20 points to the first participant, and £10 prize and 10 points to all following participants.

#beasolution and become a recycling ninja to earn great prizes!

All students are encouraged to go above and beyond with their recycling skills!!!

Collect and submit 500g of soft plastic to #beasolution campaign team to get your prize. To give you a visual equivalent, a full Tesco plastic carrier bag is approximately 500 g of soft plastic (if you squash it really well).
